As we all saw in the last blog, drinking and smoking are a big part of the everyday life of teenagers, as well as adults. But the real question now is "What is going to happen in the future?". And that is exactly what this blog is about- my prediction for the future of these bad habits.
Now I have to say that I am being pretty positive when it comes to the future generations' relationship with drinking and smoking. If not too positive about it. What I think will happen is that first of all people will start to become more and more aware of the danger that these habits hide. After that smoking and drinking will start to become more and more unpopular and more and more people are going to resist smoking and drinking. Peer pressure will stop playing such a big role when it comes to why and how people try cigarettes for the first time or are introduced to alcohol. In the end, smoking and drinking will stop being modern and become more of a cheap drug and not something that is "cool" to do.
Now because I don't smoke nor drink I decided to question one of my friends who is an active smoker and often gets wasted on a Friday night. What that one said made me believe that there actually is hope for things to change for the better. My friend actually thinks that people are eventually going to stop smoking and drinking because they will finally be aware of the actual danger that hides behind lighting up that cigarette or having another shot on a Friday night.
All in all, I believe that things are going to change for the better. All that is needed is time for the awareness to be spread.
